How to activate Google Prompt On Your Phone
If you want to add your phone as your second step verification to sign in to your Google account, Google Prompt is the best option to add an extra layer of protection.
Securely log in to your Google account by just Tap the Yes option on the mobile. Follow these steps on how to turn on Google Prompt on your mobile device.
To activate the mobile device for 2-step verification, you should sign in to your Google account on your Android device or iPhone.
1. Go to www.google.com, sign in to your Google Account
2. Navigate to Google My Activity and click on the option “Security” – https://myaccount.google.com/security
3. Under Signing into Google, click on the option “2-Step Verification.”
4. Click on Get started to protect your Google Account with 2nd step verification
5. On the 2-step verification screen, click on Show More Options and choose the option “Google Prompt.”
6. It displays a device name to get Google prompts for sign-in. Click on “Continue”
7. Here Google is providing you another backup option if you lose this mobile device. You can get backup verification codes to your phone number or download them on your computer.
Click on “Use another backup option.”
Now it displays a list of backup codes on the screen. You can either print or download the backup codes.
These backup codes can be used as one-time passcodes to sign in to a Google account when you don’t have access to your mobile.

8. Click on “Next” to continue
9. Now, choose the “Turn On” option to activate the 2-step verification as a Google prompt for default.

Activate Text Message and Voice Call for 2-step Verification
You can also add additional backup verifications for two-step verification, so it helps you to sign in to a Google account when other options are not available.
Follow these steps on how to enable second-step verification with text messages or voice calls.
1. Go to manage my activity URL- https://myaccount.google.com/security
2. Under signing into Google, click on the option “2-Step Verification.”

3. Sign in to your account by entering the password and clicking on the Next option.
4. Under 2-step verification settings > Navigate to “Add more second steps to verify it’s you.” Under voice or text message, click on “Set Up.”
5. Now, a window opens to set up your phone for 2nd verification. Enter your phone number to get verification codes and voice calls.
You can choose any one of the options to get codes and click on Next
- Text messages or
- Phone Call
6. Confirm that it works: Google just sent a text message with a verification code to your Phone number. Enter the text code and click on Done. If you still didn’t get the message, click on Resend to receive the code.
Successfully two-step verification with text messages has been enabled for Google Sign-in.
How to Add Security Key for two Step Verification
A security key enables you to sign in to your Google account securely. The security key can be built on your phone, Bluetooth, USB drive, etc.
Follow these steps on how to activate the security key for 2-step verification.
1. Navigate to two-step verification – https://myaccount.google.com/signinoptions/two-step-verification
2. Click on the option “Add Security Key.”
3. Now, choose your security key device. You can choose to use a Bluetooth built-in security key, USB security key, or any security key built-in on your device.
- Choose a mobile device to use a built-in internal security key
- Choose USB or Bluetooth to use an external security key
4. Follow the steps to continue setting up the security key insert the security key into your computer USB port and activate.
Successfully you have activated the security key with an external device.
