Google Chrome Profiles helps you to keep all of your Chrome data separately such as bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings.
Google Chrome Profiles allows users to create separate browsing environments within the same browser. Each profile has its own bookmarks, settings, extensions and browsing history. This feature is helpful for individuals who share a computer for separating work and personal browsing or for managing different projects.
Why Do you want to use Chrome profiles?
- If you are sharing your computer with another person, use your profile separately to keep your work private.
- Instantly log in to your Google account and use services like Gmail, Classroom, Google Meet, Google Drive, etc.
- No data will be shared with another profile
- Signing with different Google accounts
Note: Only share the computer that you trust. The person who has your device can switch between the profiles and can see the data.
How to Add a New Chrome Profile
Step 1: On your Windows or Mac computer, open a Google Chrome browser
Step 2: At the top of the right on the Chrome browser, click on the profile icon as shown below the image
Step 3: Under the menu, click on the option “Add“
Step 4: On “Set up your new Chrome profile“, click on “Sign in“ to sign in to your Google account and sync Chrome data across all of your devices. Or click on “Continue without an account” to skip the sign-in to the account.
Step 5: On the sign-in to Chrome screen, enter your email ID and password to sign in to your Google account.
Step 6: Turn on Sync to sync all bookmarks, settings, and history on your new Chrome profile.
Now successfully the new profile has been added to the Google Chrome browser.
How to Switch to another profile
When you open the Google Chrome browser, it displays a list of profiles that are added to your Chrome. You can choose one of the profiles to work with. However, when you decide to switch from one profile to another profile, you can easily change to another profile without closing the current profile.
Step 1: On top of the Chrome browser, click on the profile icon
Step 2: Under the other profiles, choose one of the profiles that you want to switch to
How to remove profiles on Chrome
If you wish to remove the profiles on your Chrome browser, you can easily modify and remove the added profiles. Refer below to step-by-step instructions on how to remove a profile
Step 1: On your computer, open a Chrome browser
Step 2: At the top right of Chrome, click on the profile icon > click on the manage profile settings.
Step 3: On the right side of the profile image, click on the 3 dotted more menus and then click on delete.
Now the selected profile will be deleted from your Google Chrome browser.
